
Doug Kennedy

Doug has four decades of experience in the construction industry and joined Johnson & Galyon Construction in 2001. Throughout his career, he has been part of many notable projects, including the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital – NICU & Surgery Addition, the additions and renovations to Neyland Stadium, the Whittle Communications Corporate Building (now the Howard Baker Federal Courthouse), the Dover Downs Hotel & Convention Center, the renovations at Rockefeller Center in New York City, and the renovation and restoration of Ayres Hall, a landmark structure at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Since 1983, Doug has been a registered architect and member of the American Institute of Architects. He currently serves on the College of Architecture’s board of advisors at the University of Tennessee.
Doug is also an active member of the community, having served on boards and committees for several organizations, including the Emerald Youth Foundation, where he serves as chairman of the board, the 2013-2015 University of Tennessee Chancellor’s Associates, and the University of Tennessee’s Graduate School of Medicine board of visitors.
Before starting his career in construction, Kennedy was a student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he graduated with honors in 1978 with a bachelor of science in architecture.
Doug and his wife, Vicky, currently reside in Knoxville and have raised three children: Justin, Kristin and Ryan.
Susan Bacon

Susan has been a valuable member of the Johnson & Galyon team since 1991. She currently serves as the chief financial officer and treasurer, where she is responsible for working with the company’s leadership team to ensure that all financial operations, human resources, and administrative services are functioning efficiently.
Prior to joining Johnson & Galyon, Susan worked for several years in the audit divisions of two public accounting firms in Knoxville, and ultimately become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Susan is a 2007 graduate of Leadership Knoxville, a current member of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce finance committee, and a member of the 2017 – 2020 University of Tennessee Chancellor’s Associates. She is a past member of the Knoxville Chamber board of directors and a former board member and treasurer of the Metropolitan Drug Commission.
Prior to launching her professional career, Susan was a student at the University of Tennessee, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration in 1986 and graduated with highest honors.
She and her husband, Michael, have two children, Ellen and Max.

Craig entered the construction field in the early 1990’s and joined Johnson & Galyon in 2010. He studied architecture at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and received his degree from the College of Architecture and Design in 1998.
Craig’s construction expertise is a result of knowledge gained from providing both project management and preconstruction services for a wide range of clients over his 23-year career in the industry. His resume includes projects for the University of Tennessee, the Tennessee Board of Regents, Tennova, Covenant Health, the University of Tennessee Medical Center and East Tennessee Children’s Hospital and numerous private entities. Two notable projects are East Tennessee Children’s Hospital NICU and Surgery Expansion and the University of Tennessee Medical Center Heart Tower Expansion. These two examples have a combined valuation in excess of 100 million dollars and over 400,000 square feet in combined area.
Craig is involved in the Associated General Contractors of Tennessee organization and holds the Treasurer position. He has served on the AIA of East Tennessee board of directors in the past and serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design. He is also a member of the Sevier County Economic Development Council.
Aside from construction, Craig’s passion is his family and providing support to his children in all their endeavors. He and his wife, Ashlea, have two sons – Reid and Case.
